A JQuery Plug-In to Display A Series of Image Frames, Like A Video Previewer

Project Description

CJ Image Video Previewer is meant to mimic the video preview boxes you see on many Video sites. It displays a block that contains an image thumbnail and when the user moves their cursor of the box, it dynamically loads and then displays a group of images in sequence. Kind of like a flip-book. This is an excellent way to provide an preview of the video, without the user actually downloading the video file.

The plugin has a few options you can pass to it. You can set the delay amount and determine if you want to show the "image loading" progress bar. I'm currently in the middle of re-writing my blog site, so I'm not going to bother posting detailed instructions just yet. Just take a look at the demo source. I've provided three different examples that should help you figure things out. If not, give me a shout out below. Enjoy!

@Vats Thakur - Take a look now and see if it's working. I didn't upload the new javascript file to the demo section.

@zmart - actually I use Safari and FireFox... I just don't have time to see what's going on in-depth. I'm wrapping up a couple of projects right now, but the minute I have some time I will take a look at it.

p.s. what's it doing? Is it just giving the alert or is it not working at all?

@jefbak - I seem to be having a problem with the demos. I'm in the middle of a project right now, but I hope to take a look at what's going soon. In the meantime, you can download the source and give it a go for yourself.

BTW - To prevent sites from linking directly to the demo (I prefer them to link to the entry itself) I'm preventing direct linking. So be sure you click on the "Online Demo" link and not try to open it in a new window. It won't work.

Hello,
it seems your plugin is incompatible with JQuery 1.4, everytime I hoover the image it just plays the first two frames. How can I get it working with JQuery 1.4?

@durox - Yeah, I wasn't sure how some of these were going to work with jQuery 1.4. As soon as I have some free time from my "real" work, I plan on updating everything.

Well, actually it was a bug in the script. I was storing the mouse coordinates to ensure the script only triggered when your mouse was over the element. Apparently, I did not set that properly.

A new version has been created and comments will now be closed on this version. Thanks durox!
